Tax

How Tax Is Calculated

The amount of tax charged on your order depends on many factors including the following:

  • The type of item purchased
  • The time and location of fulfillment
  • The shipment or delivery address of your order

These factors can change between the time you place an order and when your shipment is complete. As a result, the tax calculated on your order may change. The tax collected at checkout when confirming an order is an estimated tax. The amounts displayed as tax may then be updated later when your order is shipped.

The tax rate applied to your order will be the combined state and local rates of the address where your order is delivered to or fulfilled from. We do not collect sales or use taxes in all states and local jurisdictions. In cases in which we do not collect sales taxes, your purchase is subject to use tax in states imposing sales or use tax unless it is specifically exempt from taxation. Your purchase is not exempt merely because it is made over the Internet or by other remote means. Many states require purchasers to file a sales/use tax return at the end of the year reporting all of the taxable purchases that were not taxed and to pay tax on those purchases. Details of how to file these returns may be found at the websites of your respective taxing authorities.

Note that no tax is charged when purchasing gift cards. However, purchases paid for with gift cards may be subject to tax.

Sales Tax Holidays

Many taxing jurisdictions require select taxable products to be temporarily exempt from tax on specific dates. You can find more information about sales tax holidays by visiting your state’s department of revenue (or equivalent) website. Sales tax holiday exemptions may be applied to Ariat.com sales. However, tax may still be calculated on items if they do not qualify. Tax is not finalized until the date your order ships. This may affect your qualification or participation in tax-exempt sales.

Tax Exemptions

If you’re a tax-exempt customer, please place your order on ariat.com and contact Customer Service immediately after you place the order. After you have provided Customer Service with a copy of your exemption certificate, they will update the order accordingly.
