Helping Heroes Come Home with Jared Allen & Ariat Work

They Fought for Us. Now We’re Building for Them.

This Veteran's Day, Ariat is proud to donate $100,000 to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, a non-profit organization dedicated to building mortgage-free, fully accessible homes for combat-wounded Veterans and their families.

For many wounded Veterans, coming home means adapting to an entirely new version of daily life.

Everyday tasks are suddenly filled with obstacles. Doorways too narrow for a wheelchair. Shelves out of reach. Bathrooms that no longer function safely. Kitchens that turn simple routines into daily frustrations.

With the help of Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, injured Veterans receive homes built around the realities of recovery, mobility, and long-term independence – thoughtfully designed spaces that make it easier to focus on the future ahead.

Like Jared, Ariat believes nobody deserves a home more than the heroes who fought to protect ours. And after sacrificing so much, the last thing Veterans should face at home is another set of barriers.

That's why we're committed to supporting Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors through action, not just words.

Our $100,000 donation is part of a larger effort to support veterans and their families long after the uniforms come off.

Not because they asked for help.

Because they earned it.

And this Veteran’s Day, we're proud to carry Jared’s mission forward.

Inspired to Act. Helping Heroes Come Home.

In 2009, Jared Allen traveled overseas on a USO tour through military bases across the Middle East. During the trip, the NFL Hall of Famer spent time with wounded service members and was deeply impacted by the sacrifice and selflessness he witnessed firsthand.

When he returned home, he knew he wanted to find a meaningful way to give back.

Not long after, Jared learned that many combat-wounded Veterans were returning to homes that simply weren’t built for the injuries they sustained in service - homes that could make everyday life significantly more difficult for both the Veterans and their families

So he rolled up his sleeves and got to work.

That same year, Jared Allen launched Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, which builds homes in close collaboration with the Veteran and their family. Every detail is designed around real-life needs and routines. Wider hallways. Open layouts. Adaptive kitchens. Roll-in showers. Spaces designed around real-world needs, daily routines, and long-term quality of life.

“We build homes designed around the specific needs of wounded veterans. And they are always mortgage free.”

For many families, the impact reaches far beyond the home itself. They help create a greater sense of freedom, stability, and togetherness as their next chapter of life unfolds.

More than 15 years later, Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors continues making good on their promise to stand behind wounded Veterans and their families.

It’s work Ariat is proud to support this Veteran’s Day and beyond.

Ariat Retailers. Answering the Call.

This year’s $100,000 donation was made possible by Ariat retail partners across the country, with stores and communities rallying together on behalf of Jared’s mission.

What made the effort especially meaningful was seeing how many retail partners immediately embraced the opportunity to get involved.

Not out of obligation, but out of genuine respect for the people who sacrificed so much in service to our country.

Their support was proof that, for all of us at Ariat, standing up for veterans isn’t just something you say.   It's something you do.

The story of Marine Corps Veteran Josh Wege offers a powerful example of the impact this mission can have.

Jared says, “Nobody deserves a home more than the people who defend our right to live in ours.”

Meet Josh Wege

Josh enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2009 and later deployed to Afghanistan’s Helmand Province, where he worked closely with the Afghan National Police and Army.

On October 4, 2009, during a routine patrol, the light armored vehicle Josh was traveling in struck an IED.

The explosion changed his life instantly.

Josh lost his right leg and suffered devastating injuries to his left leg, along with severe spinal compression fractures and a concussion. After returning home to the United States, he underwent extensive surgeries before ultimately losing his left leg as well.

But Josh’s story didn’t end there.

When Jared and his team met Josh, they saw a fighter. A husband. A father. A man whose spirit remained unshaken.

They worked closely with Josh and his family to build a fully accessible home designed specifically around his daily and long-term needs - a home that would support the active, independent life Josh was determined to keep pursuing.

Today, Josh stays active through snowboarding and adaptive sports, serves as President of the Board for USA Patriots Softball, and continues to inspire everyone around him with his leadership, positivity, and determination.

“Our goal is simple: give them back their freedom, their dignity, their peace of mind.”
