Exclusive Collab: Ariat x Western Aloha
Our newest collab with lifestyle brand Western Aloha captures the carefree spirit of the big island of Hawaii.
Founded by Kona resident Paul Sullivan in 2008, Western Aloha combines the performance of Western shirts with the spirit of Aloha. His brand pays homage to Hawaiian heritage and the Paniolo cowboys of Hawaii who surf in the morning and round up cattle later in the day. When the Ariat team came across Sullivan’s brand, we knew a collaboration would be the perfect way to celebrate Hawaiian style and the Paniolo cowboys.
"We wanted to play up the idea of Hawaii-meets-Ariat by adding a novelty spin to our favorite Ariat products,” said Shane Holman, Head of Western Footwear at Ariat. "The collection is fun and versatile, and embodies the easygoing island spirit of surfboards, horses, and jeeps on the sand."
Our head-to-toe collaborative collection brings the fun, laid-back Western Aloha vibe to your favorite Ariat silhouettes. From hand-drawn Hawaiian pareau prints in patriotic colors to surfing steer heads and hula girls, the collection includes pieces that can be worn to perform and more casual, laid-back styles perfect for chill days.
In addition to the one-of-a-kind prints found in the collection, we also wanted to highlight the iconic Western Aloha boar logo, which has a unique story of its own.
In Hawaii, the boar (pua’a) carries strong significance. Back in the day, Paniolo cowboys used to hunt feral pigs on horseback in Hawaii. Known for being resilient and aggressive while hunted, the boar is also friendly and intelligent. As Western Aloha puts it, “the boar is confident enough to wear a lei and even ride on a surfboard. He takes it easy as he goes about his day.”
Western Aloha’s iconic hog logo can be seen surfing on your favorite Ariat graphic tees as part of the collaboration.
