Better Together: Innovation Through Teamwork
For over 30 years, Ariat has built performance footwear and clothing by combining design, technology, and industry expertise to serve riders, workers, and communities.
Since 1993, Ariat has operated as a different breed of company. Our founders, Beth Cross and Pam Parker, challenged convention by being the first to integrate innovative athletic footwear technology into riding boots. That commitment to innovation required more than ambition—it depended on designers, engineers, and experienced professionals working side by side from day one.
That same principle shapes how we work today. Innovation at Ariat is not the result of a single idea or department. It happens when people with different expertise come together to build products that perform for real people in real-world conditions.
A short video shared by our respected industry peer, Quanta, clearly captures this perspective: Belgian Draft Horses demonstrate that when two horses pull a load together, they can move up to four times as much as either could alone.

We see that dynamic play out every day at Ariat. Strong teams do not rely on individual strengths alone. They bring those strengths together. As Tim Dougherty, VP Sales, explains:
“A single person performs around their strengths and works around their weaknesses. A great team doesn't have to, because someone else's strength helps cover what others may lack. Together, we become stronger. People working together toward a similar goal will work harder and longer.”
That mindset guides how we build our products. Designers work closely with engineers and athletes to refine fit, stability, and durability. New technologies are tested by riders, ranchers, and workers who rely on their gear every day. Feedback is shared and acted on quickly because when teams work together, the product improves.
The same principle applies to how we serve our customers. Many of them interact with more than one Ariat team, and when those interactions are consistent and connected, trust grows. “If our teams are aligned, speak with one voice, and reinforce each other while pulling together, this relationship feels like a partnership,” says Dougherty. “If they're disconnected, it erodes confidence even when the product is selling.”
Our ultimate goal is to have our external partners, internal teams, and customers all experience one Ariat. Clear communication and a shared understanding ensure that every experience feels dependable and impactful from start to finish.
We also operate within a larger industry made up of companies that serve many of the same people and professions. The Belgian Horse illustration reflects values that matter across Ariat: teamwork, mutual respect, and accountability. While we are independent organizations, we are connected by the people we support.
For more than three decades, Ariat has grown by bringing different strengths to the table and working toward common goals. That approach improves our products, builds trust with our consumers, and supports the communities we serve.
How We Build Better
With 33 years of experience crafting innovative boots and performance clothing, how does teamwork make our products better?
Since 1993, Ariat has combined athletic footwear technology with Western and Equestrian craftsmanship. Designers, engineers, and real-world testers work closely to ensure every product performs with purpose. That shared effort is what allows us to keep raising the standard.
Just as Belgian horses multiply their strength when paired, how does collaboration across design, engineering, and field testing elevate the quality of our boots?
Each team brings a different strength to the process. Designers focus on fit and style, engineers refine performance features, and field testers put every detail to work in real conditions. When those perspectives come together, the result is footwear built to last and built to perform.
If we believe we’re stronger together, how does that belief show up in the way Ariat supports the communities and causes that matter to our customers?
We support the industries connected to our brand by staying involved and giving back in meaningful ways. From events to youth programs to industry initiatives, we invest in the people who rely on our products every day. Strong communities make our industry stronger.
