Your guide to finding the right size jeans, every time.

This guide walks you through how to measure your body and a pair of jeans you already love, so you can find your perfect Ariat fit with confidence.

What You’ll Need

  • A soft measuring tape
  • A pair of jeans that fit you well (optional, but helpful)
  • A flat surface
  • A notepad or your phone to save your measurements

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BODY

These three key measurements waist, hip and inseam, will help you find the right Ariat size across our denim styles.

Waist Measurement

Find your natural waistline and measure around it. Keep the tape level and snug for accuracy. Stand relaxed and find your natural waistline, this is usually the narrowest part of your torso. We have 3 different types of rises mid rise, high rise and perfect rise so keep this in mind when measuring your waist because different jeans sit on different places on your torso.

Tip: If you prefer wearing your jeans higher or lower, measure at that point instead. Rise affects where your jeans will sit.

Hip Measurement

Measure around the fullest part of your hips, usually 7 to 9 inches below your waist.

Inseam Measurement

Measure straight down the inside of your leg rom your crotch to your desired length.

If you prefer more stack or a longer drape over your boots, consider sizing up in length. Ariat women’s jeans are available in lengths: Short (31"), Regular (33"), Long (35"), and Extra Long (37") and Ariat men’s jeans in 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38

Tip: Wear the shoes you most often pair with your jeans. Your favourite western boots may change the length you prefer.

HOW TO MEASURE A PAIR OF JEANS YOU ALREADY LOVE

If you have a pair of jeans that fit perfectly, measuring them is one of the easiest ways to choose your next pair.

Lay your jeans flat on a table before starting.

Waistband

  1. Button the jeans.
  2. Lay the waistband flat, smoothing out any wrinkles.
  3. Measure straight across from one edge to the other.
  4. Double that number for your waist size.

Rise

Understanding rise helps you choose how high the jeans will sit on your body.

  1. Start at the crotch seam.
  2. Measure straight up to the top of the waistband.
  3. Note the measurement.

WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR MEASUREMENTS

Once you have your waist, hip, and inseam, compare them to our Ariat size chart.

Keep in mind:

Stretch matters

Our stretch denim offers a comfortable fit that moves with you. If you’re between sizes and prefer a close fit, choose the smaller size. For rigid or low stretch styles, consider the larger size.

Different fits, different feels

Straight leg, bootcut, slim, relaxed each style has its own personality. Your measurements stay the same, but the fit may influence how the jeans feel on your body.

Jeans break in

Good denim will ease and soften with wear. A slightly snug fit at first is normal depending on the fabric blend.

QUICK FIT CHECK

When your jeans arrive:

  • Waist: Should feel secure but comfortable. You should be able to slide two fingers inside the waistband.
  • Seat: Move, bend, sit there should be no pinching or pulling.
  • Length: Try them with your favourite Ariat boots or everyday shoes. Hem should hit where you like it classic bootcut sits slightly longer, straight styles sit clean at the ankle.
