Coursewalk with Andreas Ostholt

10 Jul 2017

Ten eventing fans had the unique opportunity of a close-up look at the CCI 4-star course with event rider Andreas Ostholt at the International Horse Trials in Luhmühlen. After meeting at the start box, the group moved quickly in order to cover the course which was set at 6,370 metres. Andreas Ostholt, who unfortunately could not be at the start of the 4-star class, took time at the individual fences to explain the features and difficulties of the obstacles to the eventing fans. He focused particularly on the preparation of the approach to each fence.

After approximately six kilometres, the group reached the Ariat Complex, a brush combination shortly before the end of the demanding cross-country course, where a nice picnic awaited the coursewalk participants. With a welcome cool drink in hand, Andreas Ostholt answered questions in a relaxed discussion group. The new course designer Mike Etherington-Smith and Olympic champion Andrew Hoy also appeared as surprise guests.

The friendly group discussion did not break up even when faced with a heavy rain shower – the group simply moved under a tree, continued chatting and took selfies with Andreas. The downpour also gave the lucky winners the chance to thoroughly test their brand new waterproof jackets!

The eventing fans also received weekend tickets for the Luhmühlen International Horse Trials, so they could follow the rest of the event and cheer Andreas Ostholt and the other riders on in person.

It was a successful event all around, one that participants are not likely to forget any time soon!
