Tell us about your first horse/pony
I had a pony from Shane called Snowflake, he was very tricky and liked to stop last minute at speed, but on a good day would win every class out there! He taught me to sit like superglue!
How did you get started in your discipline?
My father always hunted, my brother, Shane Breen, always rode and followed in his footsteps. We were never lucky enough to have good ponies or horses and had to learn to get the best out of them!
Mentor/idol when growing up?
Eddie Macken
Proudest career moment?
Winning the Hickstead Derby this year (2014) on my one-eyed wonder horse, Adventure de Kannan. I was second last year and third the year previously so it had to happen at some point!
Why do you ride?
I love producing young horses up to GP international level and am lucky enough to make a good living out of something I'm passionate about.
If you weren”t a professional rider, what would you be?
A professional rugby player, I played for Munster at junior level in Ireland.
Favourite holiday destination?
Antigua
How do you unwind?
I love watching rugby and spending time with my wife Caroline and our daughter Mia.
Do you have a good luck charm, and if so, what is it?
I have a tie pin that I would be devastated to lose!
Favourite Ariat product?
My Ariat boots! They're the best on the market in my opinion, you can't get anything more comfy or sturdy to ride and train in!
