Event in which you compete: Professional Rodeo Announcer & Voice Talent

Hometown: Choteau, MT, USA

Number of years announcing: I have been a professional rodeo announcer since 1994.

Career accomplishments to date:

  • • Chosen three times to announce the Dodge National Circuit Finals
  • • 12 times Montana Circuit Finals
  • • Greeley Stampede, Salinas, CA
  • • Redding Rodeo, Sheridan, WY Rodeo, Lewiston Round-up…proud to announce these rodeos and a whole lot more.

How you got started in your event: My dad was a rodeo announcer. He booked two rodeos one weekend. I was a radio DJ in Bozeman, MT at the time and went and filled in for him…that started it all.

Favorite Ariat Product: I love all of the products but my favorite right now is the Latigo Belly Caiman square toe boots…AWESOME!!

Proudest career moment: I’m most proud of the fact that I now only announce some of the greatest rodeo events in the country, but I have friends…good friends…at all of them.

Tell us about your first horse: My first steer-wrestling horse was Baby Cakes. He was old and crippled and on his way to the dog food factory. I took him, fixed him, and won two amateur titles – one in the steer wrestin’ and one in the calf ropin’.

You announce because: I announce because I’m passionate about doing a great job no matter where I am, and I love the thrill of getting an audience to respond and be moved..

If you weren’t a professional announcer, you would be a: If I weren’t a professional rodeo announcer I would probably be in radio or television.

Favorite mentor or idol growing up: My dad was/is my mentor. My idols are Bob Tallman and Hadley Barrett.

Favorite place to travel: Salinas, CA feels pretty good in the middle of July when it’s hot everywhere else. Mexico in the winter is great as well.

Name one fun fact that people don’t know about you: I love to write/sing and play music on my twelve-string guitar.

Favorite way to unwind outside the barn: I love to fish and hunt; my cow herd helps me to unwind as well.
