How you got started in your event: In the little town of Springfield, Ill., that was about the only kind of riding that was available.

Length of time you’ve been sponsored by Ariat: Five years

Favorite Ariat product (by name): Monaco Field Boots, and I like some of the Western products, too.

Proudest career moment: Standing on the podium in Hong Kong at the 2008 Olympics to receive the Team Gold medal.

Tell us about your first horse: It was a hot little Thoroughbred mare named Glenda Joe. She won eight of eight classes at two different horse shows. She was a little unruly at times, but those are the same kind of horses I like today.

You ride because: I love to ride because every time you get on a horse it is a new experience. There is nothing like the experience of pure horse power.

If you weren’t a professional rider, you would be a: Tennis player.

Favorite mentor or idol growing up: Rodney Jenkins and Bernie Treuric

Favorite place to travel: Up in Business Class. Anywhere in a truck with all of the horses behind.

Name one fun fact that people don’t know about you: I cook the best Baby-Back Ribs West of the Mississippi.

Favorite way to unwind outside of the barn: Play Tennis

Good luck charm: When my kids are in the stands watching me compete.
