Event in which you compete: Hunter Jumper

Hometown: Kennett Square, PA, USA

Number of years riding: I have ridden as long as I can remember. I grew up on a farm and we rode all the time. I would not canter until I was I was at least six years old. It took my older sister threatening me never to play with me again to get to me to canter.

Career accomplishments to date:

How you got started in your event: I started riding because my mother was a riding instructor. She had a string of school horses and she taught riding five days a week, and then took all the boarders to shows on the weekend.

Favorite Ariat product (by name): Ranchero, Latigo Caiman Belly, Charger. M4 Low-Rise Tabac

Proudest career moment: I am very proud of my entire career. Taking a horse from a green youngster to a consistent champion at all the major shows always feels good. Most recently I won the $50,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby in Wellington Florida. That was a real thrill.

Tell us about your first horse: My first pony was a mare named Ginger. She was a paint and went on the have 12 foals!!!

You ride because: I ride because I love horses and riding.

If you weren’t a professional rider, you would be a: I have no idea what I would be if I did not ride. May be something with kids and dogs.

Favorite mentor or idol growing up: Jenkins was king when I was growing up. What a rider.

Favorite place to travel: St. Bart’s and Africa

Favorite way to unwind outside the barn: Playing with my granddaughter, Mary. She is like icing on a cake to me.

Good luck charm: I always put my left boot on first, and now new clothes from Ariat have been very lucky.
