Rated 5 out of 5 by adm21086 from Amazing Boot! Incredible, one-of-a-kind details I am a quality and fashion-conscious shopper- I have no problem paying $300+ for a pair of shoes or boots, but I expect to get my money’s worth – and I am pleased to say that with the Ariat Stardust in color Gold Mine, I got exactly what I paid for! Even before I put them on, these boots looked incredible and well-made straight out-of-the-box. My later impressions and experience with the boot proved that in the case of Ariats (and this is my third pair), that more than being great shoes they are fashionable, detailed, and very, very high quality. Buy these amazing shoes and you will not regret it! Such a great and worthwhile investment COLOR The color you see in the pictures on the zappos.com website is an accurate representation, which I would describe as a lightly burnished, slightly aged, medium-warm tan. the pics on the ariat websit make this boot look way lighter in color than it actually is. It is a truly beautiful color that will easily go with any skirt, dress, pair of jeans, or shorts in my closet. And the warmness of the “gold mine” color gives it a very homey / nostalgic feel, while still appearing stylish and classic at the same time. MATERIAL The leather material is high quality and sturdy enough to support the shaft of the shoe without collapsing under its own weight, meaning no slouchy, wrinkley, pirate boots here! I had purchased (and shortly thereafter) returned the Chelsea boot by Lucchesse for it weak, cheap leather and ankle and shaft wrinkling. I am so happy to see the structure of these boots didn’t fall short where many western booties I had tried before had. **NOTE – because the leather is so high quality, these boots are stiff out of the box. This is common for high end, well made, leather shoes. Breaking in through normal, everyday wear and tear will solve this problem*** If you intend to wear them straight out of the box for a long day or walking or sightseeing, I’d advise against it and that you spend some time breaking them in prior. For me, breaking in will not be a disadvantage, because I knew this would happen going into the initial purchase; if you’re expectations are in-line with the reality of this, then you won’t have a problem either.*** STYLE the style of these shoes are simple, but it’s the small details that truly make it unique. Besides the gorgeous color and darker color dip in the toe, the sole of the shoe is so unique and beautiful. It’s a leather wrapped sole – with the leather being kind of a burnished cognac that resembles an old piece of reconditioned furniture. The leather shows not only on the sole, but can be seen along the edges of the shoe surround the footbed and toe area. The leather is stitched into sole along the bottom sides of the shoe and the effect is understated, but still stunning and and just..really cool looking upon closer inspection. The stitching is a pearly off-white colors and remind me of the stitching on a mochasin a bit in terms of it’s width and effect (though less dramatic)– it an intentional and subtle design aesthetic that really sets the boot apart. The scallop is a deep V, which accentuates the leg nicely, with the top of the boot reaching the top of my ankle. The heel is stacked an similar in color to the leather wrapped sole to create a cohesive design across the bottom of the shoe. SIMILAR SHOES / REVIEW I have tried and returned: FRYE JACKIE BUTTON SHORT in Coganc (looked kind of frumpy dumpy in terms of the style, though they were very well made and high quality), OLD GRINGO TORERO (Too short in the shaft, cuts off at the ankle in a way that makes a person’s legs look short vs. long and lean, but also very well made and great style if you wear with jeans and not a skirt, dress, or shorts), FRYE TAYLOR SHORT in Coganc (so antiqued they looked almost damaged, Form fitting in the ankle which just makes for funny proportions on some people, and zipper on the boot will chafe your skin – this is the main reason I returned, but overall a very cute, well made, sexy booties). FIT / SIZE fits true to size, though on me slightly tight along the inside edges where the sides of my big toe hits. But this is a factor of the stiff leather that will break in over time. I’d recommend ordering true to size in this shoes, though for other Arait’s it can very, the Murietta, for example, I wear a 9.5 vs. the 9.0 I own in the Ariat Stardust and Ariat Corazon. My Ariat Corazons I’ve had for almost 3 years and they are so comfortable now! I expect the same from my Stardust!
